ON BROADWAY

Seventeen-year-old wish child Kendall says the neon lights are definitely bright “On Broadway…On Broadway.” Always active in theater and music, she wanted a dream trip to New York to see Broadway shows. After fatiguing hospital visits and treatments for a life-threatening condition, Kendall was ready to hit the Big Apple, where she said she had no problem finding the energy to participate in everything her volunteer wishgranters had planned for her.

From a hometown send-off complete with a “New York, New York” serenade by a local musician, to a celebrity-style greeting at the airport, Kendall felt every bit the movie star. With family in tow, they took in a whopping six plays! She said, “By far, the musicals were my favorite part of the trip.” She was even lucky enough to see Harry Connick, Jr. in The Pajama Game – what an experience! And, as a follow-up surprise, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New York sent her a poster from that play autographed by the entire cast, Harry included.

An avid Audrey Hepburn fan, Kendall always dreamed to have breakfast at Tiffany’s. She struck a famous Audrey-like pose for a photo. From there, Coreen, the Big Apple Greeter, showed Kendall and her family the town. The Brooklyn Bridge, Ground Zero and China Town were just a few of her favorites. And of course, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Empire State Building were must sees.

With stars in her eyes and her wish fulfilled, Kendall finally boarded the plane for Texas. “Thank you so much for my dream trip to New York…there was never a dull moment to be found!” There was definitely Make-A-Wish magic in the air “On Broadway…On Broadway.”

Kendall’s wish was sponsored by GSC Enterprises, Inc.
