Domonic
I wish to visit Sesame Street
More than anything in the world, three-year-old Domonic wanted to visit Sesame Street! For him Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Elmo and all the rest were his personal friends and a huge part of his everyday life, teaching him, playing with him and helping through some very difficult times in his life.
The magic began when Mom, Dad and Domonic boarded the plane for New York. Everyone on the plane knew a special ambassador from Make-A-Wish Land was on board and gave him V.I.P. treatment. The family was driven by limousine to the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel for some more V.I.P. treatment but Domonic was not so easily distracted – he was waiting to meet his very personal friends at Sesame Street.
When he arrived at the studio, all his friends welcomed him and escorted him to a special director’s chair. From this perch, he watched the magic unfold as the cast and crew set up props, manipulated the puppets and actually taped a segment for the show. The reality behind the scenes did not spoil the magic for our Wish Kid! Elmo, Zoe and Big Bird signed their “head” shots for Domonic. He also brought back a unique souvenir – a feather from Big Bird himself!

Since the Sesame Street people work with children and magic as much as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, they know these are moments that will be enjoyed but all too soon forgotten. They made one more tape that day starring Domonic – Domonic’s World! Now every single day Domonic can chase his clouds away and sing along with his personal friends, a real life resident-for-a-day of Sesame Street!
Back home with Mom and Dad, the hustle and bustle of New York only a distant memory, the “power of a wish” happens all over again for Domonic and his family as they watch the video, look at the photos, and sing and dance to Domonic’s song. Since this wish comes true daily for this special little boy, what else in his life will be possible?
