Delecia

I Wish to Be a Published Author!

The Storm won’t last long but The Strong will last long.
So, Stay Strong because it won’t be long until The Storm is Gone” - Delecia Ransom

Some people are fortunate to be able to paint pictures with words, some with oils, pen or pastels. Seventeen-year-old Delecia has been blessed with the ability to do both. Delecia, who was diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition, realized that her life would never be the same. She immediately began using her passions, writing and drawing, as a way to escape the pain she was experiencing and to make sense of it all. Through numerous doctors and hospital visits, Delecia was inspired to write her first book, Been Through the Storm, But Didn’t Get Wet.

After she was referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, it took Delecia some time to determine what her one favorite wish would be. She decided she wanted to publish a book of her poems before she turned 17. Wishgranters and staff worked to make her dream come true! Delecia met with editors, copywriters and designers as a real author. Professional stylists and photographers worked with her for the “head” shot gracing the book.

Delecia signing copies of her book

Popular authors often participate in book signings and Delecia was no exception! Barnes and Noble Bookstore hosted a book signing to showcase Been Though the Storm, But Didn’t Get Wet. Delecia’s gift for writing was clearly evident as this poised and charming young woman signed complimentary copies of her book for all her new fans.

Her book is published; her poems are inspiring; her drawings are lovely. More than that, however, is the story of a young woman who has turned her adversity into something incredibly powerful with the help of some very special friends.
